Poetry of the Arab Revolt..

This, for me is one of the most iconic chants that was chanted whole-heartedly throughout the various squares of Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria and Yemen. It was sang with all pride and joy, loud and clear, coupled with emotions that were unprecedented. Those who proudly sang it, men and women alike, are the champions of the mayadeen (squares), the retainers of their freedom and the martyrs that will never be forgotten and who will always be synonymous with the freedom of their country. 4 out of 5 of the countries mentioned managed that and by the will of Allah SWT, the fate of those countries will foreshadow Syria's fate.

The poem is credited to the Tunisian poet Abdul-Qasim Al-Shabi titled 'The Will to Live'

“If, one day, a people desires to live, then fate will answer their call.

And their night will then begin to fade, and their chains break and fall.

For he who is not embraced by a passion for life will dissipate into thin air,

At least that is what all creation has told me, and what its hidden spirits declare…”
