Below is what he has to say:
What would be the life of a Gazan compared to those of the people living outside?
We cannot concentrate on our daily life; the buzzes of the drones, the shakes made by the powerful airstrikes, the fear fills our life and worst of all is the ignorance of those living in the western countries - they have everything they need easily secured for them, while we wake up to the sound of air strikes and sleep to the sound of air strikes.
I’m a student in a community college here in Gaza called UCAS the community college of applied sciences I’m majoring in secretarial administration after finishing my bachelors degree in English Teaching. I can barely concentrate on my studies; I commute between my home and my college filled with fear.
After the last war on Gaza at the end of 2008, I really had a shocking accident when I was on my way to my university; I was stopping at a taxi stop point when an airstrike strongly hit a place close by, right in front of me. I returned home very shocked, also that incident has had further deep negative impacts on me, I’ve been experiencing difficulties whilst being alone, and sometimes feel the urge to distance myself from others, I had mostly all known psychotic and psychological issues; schizophrena, insomnia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive syndrome, high stress, phobia of almost everything that makes a ‘bang’ sound and nightmares all that because of the sort of life I’m experiencing.
Throughout my life I haven’t as of yet had a quite and stable period it has always been constant bombardment and shakiness. I can say the longest time I could stay in Gaza wouldn’t be even just five minutes, but where do I go? Where do I seek refuge? With Gaza being besieged through every means, economically, commercially, and even through healthcare.
After being alone, and riddled with the psychological issues I have, it obliged me to stay at home most of the time, where my problem deepened even more.I’m very sad and in a horrible status, from time to time, I think that I would miss one of my loved ones; my mother, my sister, my father - any of them, sometimes I talk to my self saying; that life is not worthy of having any sort of attachment to others, as it is becoming more and more inevitable that I may lose anyone I form an attachment with due to the horror we are living in.
Thinking of the level of crimes being committed here, the outside world could hardly move and act effectively for Gaza, just as the infamous Israeli political analysts said to each other once, what happened when the Arab foreign affairs ministers met? The other replied, they ate a very nice dessert, the former replies; that’s good, we are in a perfect situation.
That reflects the worrying scene of how the world is acting towards Gaza, the Israelis are sure that nobody would do a tangible and strong thing other than coming to Gaza and pay condolences to the families of the killed people and then they would be back as well as the Israeli jets be back to kill more Palestinians. The political divide in Palestine worsens the crisis even more, even when it can’t get any worse, but I think that separation is compulsory , why , because the other part the PNA Palestinian national authority and it’s supporters don’t even recognize Hamas which was elected democratically and observed by the Europeans themselves, if the Palestinian reconciliation would be successful , the first thing they would do that they would be back to arrest Hamas members and give information about them to the Israelis, also they wouldn’t allow Hamas ministers to hold any position of power in any coming government.
Back to the situation in Gaza, we are in a besieged area, that means the things are not in between our hands, we cannot control the situation, it is in the hand of whom besieges us, Israel, you could see that who initiated the fight Israel with the assassination of Hamas commander then they would say why does Hamas fire rockets to Israel?
Indeed it is not in our control and more importantly when there is a parliamentary elections approaching in Israel, soon Israel would lunch an offensive in Gaza and as many as who’s in power in Israel, as much he gains of electoral shares, exactly like what happened in the war at the end of 2008 when they lunched the operation cast lead.
We are oppressed victims, we cannot stop the killing against us nor we can attract effective support from the outside, and it is not forgettable the religious basis such events have, you can see the Israeli soldiers who are preparing to invade Gaza perform Jewish prayers.
In the current ongoing war on Gaza, we have seen many horrible, unthinkable and shocking things, when you see F-16s attacking homes not including any single militants as a mean of pressure of the controlling body Hamas, using world-banned weapons, destroying as much as they can, when you walk in any of the streets in Gaza, you will hear the voice of drones fill up the sky, which could be translated as a strong chance of an airstrike anywhere, that’s what I’m feeling when these circumstances exist, killing 96 people didn’t shake the outside world, let alone incite them to find an effective step towards liberating Gaza. Even the newly-elected U.S. president Barack Obama would come out and say that Israel has it’s right to defend itself, wow, is all this brutality and oppression a means of self-defence even after skipping the issue of stealing the land of Palestine since there was nothing called Israel before, they came here and stole our land and built what is called Israel today, even after ignoring this, how a so-called democratic and fair state can commit such brutal atrocities?
I end with this and I genuinely feel it:
I felt like I’ve died many times a day when I see the very insane crimes that are being committed in Gaza every day.
